Developing a circular economy will require investment and innovation in recycling technology that takes advantage of readily available feedstock streams, a favorable regulatory environment and a base of highly motivated customers.

In 2024, LyondellBasell announced the acquisition of the Jurupa Valley mechanical recycling assets, and the lease of a processing facility with the production capacity of approximately 50 million pounds of recycled material per year.

LYB plans to operate the recycling plant in California to manufacture post-consumer recycled resins using plastic waste feedstock, offering these recycled polymers under its CirculenRecover brand, part of the company's Circulen portfolio of products that enable the circular economy.
